Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shawback, of rural Tonica,
will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with
an open house and celebration service on Saturday,
March 24, 2001, at Central Church of Christ. The
celebration service will be frorn 1:30-2 p.m.,
followed by the open house from 2-4 p.m.
The former Cora Wright of Streator and Robert
Shawback of Tonica were married on Feb. 6, 1951,
at Central Church of Christ. Attendants were Fred
and Corrine Neiggemann of Streator, twin sister
and brother-in-law of the bride.
The couple are the parents of three daughters:
Sally (Mrs. John) Puckett and Beth Kopecky, both
of Florissant, Mo., and Peggy (Mrs. Tom) Hughes
of DeKalb. They have 12 grandchildren.
The couple grew up, worked and lived in the
Tonica/Streator area until 10 months after their
marriage, when Robert was called to serve a term of
four years in the United States Navy. The couple
then returned to the Tonica area, and have lived
and farmed there since.
The couple requests that gifts be omitted.
